Dear Sir

PLANNING APPLICATION REFERENCE P08/1373

LAND OFF STEWARTS ROAD, COOMBS ROAD AND OLIVE HILL PRIMARY SCHOOL, HALESOWEN, WEST MIDLANDS

I wish to register an objection to this application to build sports facilities and a residential development.

1 Planning Policy

The plan conflicts with policy HE2 of the Dudley MBC UDP. This states that “The council will seek to protect and enhance views into, from or within Landscape Heritage Areas”. My own home on the Tenterfields estate, and those of many other residents of the same estate have views into the Coombeswood Landscape Heritage Area which will be detrimentally affected by the developments proposed within it. Both developments will be highly visible at a distance as they are to be surrounded by 2m high galvanised fencing. In particular the sports pitches fence proposed for Olive Hill Primary School will break the skyline as it is located at the edge of a steep bank on the highest part of the Coombeswood Green Wedge.

Views from the area will also be detrimentally affected. The two developments proposed will each render unusable the two most significant viewpoints of all the viewpoints within the Coombeswood Landscape area, 1) From the land at the back of Olive Hill School,, which is the highest point of Coombeswood without obscuring tree cover, and 2) the viewpoint off Stewarts Road indicated by intersecting paths. Etc Etc Ec

2 Site Layout

The scale of the proposed relocated cricket pitch for the land off Stewart's Road will literally cut the Coombeswood Green Wedge in two, both vertically and horizontally, significantly reducing its value for informal recreation. This conflicts with Dudley UDP policy DD8...etc etc etc etc
