Does anyone know of the proposals St Modwins are making to preserve the
public rights of way that cross the Wedge? Are they aware that some of these
rights are utilised by The Monarch's Way Long Distance Footpath, a route of some
615 miles in total which follows the escape of Charles II following his defeat
at the Battle of Worcester in 1651 and which runs from Worcester to Shoreham on
the South Coast. Are the politicians, the planners and the developers aware
of the benefits (economic, educational, health and recreation) that the
Monarch's Way brings to the local area? Do they know that this route
represents a part (at least from a constitutional point of view) of one of
the most important periods of this country's history? Do the developers
know that the
planning regulations change with effect from today and they
will be obliged to identify, address and make proposals to cater for all of
these factors?
